Chinese battery manufacturer CATL elaborated on the application progress of its sodium-ion battery products across multiple fields at a supplier conference held in Ningde City, Fujian Province on December 28, 2025. The company confirmed that the application of sodium-ion battery technology is advancing in areas such as energy storage systems, battery swapping networks, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles.

CATL stated that the application of sodium-ion batteries has formed a product strategy of "sodium-ion batteries and lithium-ion batteries advancing hand in hand." This technological route aims to provide diversified solutions for different market demands. The advancing application of sodium-ion batteries is expected to leverage their characteristics in terms of cost, raw material supply, and low-temperature performance to meet the needs of specific scenarios such as energy storage and light electric vehicles.
