The busbar upgrade work that was scheduled to be carried out at the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Kundahar Substation in Kundahar, Pokhara, has been postponed for now. Although a schedule had been made public to shut down electricity supply for five hours daily from today until January 5, the upgrade has been halted for a few days after electricity demand increased due to adverse weather conditions.

According to Jitendra Yadav, Chief of the Pokhara Distribution Center, electricity demand has increased significantly over the past one to two days due to colder weather, causing power transformers to become overloaded and resulting in problems in the feeders.

“While starting the upgrade of the 132 kV busbar at the Kundahar Substation this morning and operating the line, excessive load occurred due to adverse weather, causing problems in the feeders,” said Yadav. “Therefore, the upgrade work has been temporarily postponed for a few days. Once the weather becomes favorable, a new schedule will be announced and the work will resume.”

Under the Pokhara Grid Division of the Nepal Electricity Authority, electricity supply was planned to be shut down from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. for four days in most areas of Pokhara to carry out the busbar upgrade at the Kundahar Substation. With the upgrade work now postponed, the authority has stated that this schedule will not be implemented for the time being.
