Janaki Energy Private Limited has announced plans to construct a solar power project equipped with a battery storage system. The company is preparing to build the project at Raghunathpur in Dhanushadham, Dhanusha district.

The company submitted an application to the Department of Electricity Development on November 26, requesting a survey license for the construction of the project. The project will have a capacity of 6 megawatts, and it will include a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 5.625 megawatt-hours.

After completion, this project will become the major battery-storage-integrated project in that area. The project is expected to provide regular and reliable clean energy to more than 5,000 households.

By storing electricity generated from sunlight in batteries and distributing it when needed - especially in the evening and at night - this project is expected to play an important role in reducing Nepal’s dependence on seasonal hydropower. The project is also said to significantly reduce carbon emissions and lessen reliance on the national grid.

It is believed that this project will make a significant contribution to environmental conservation and be established as a model project for the future development of renewable energy. In addition, the project is expected to create employment at the local level during both the construction and operation phases, thereby having a positive impact on the local economy. It has been stated that priority will be given to local residents in construction materials, technical work, operation, and maintenance.
