A Qatari delegation led by Mohd Ahmed M.A. Al-Obaidely, Board Member of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held meetings on Tuesday with Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal and Foreign Minister Balanand Sharma.

The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal, Misal bin Mohammed Ali Al-Ansari, and Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

During the discussions, detailed deliberations were held on the promotion of Nepal–Qatar bilateral investment, expansion of trade, and the potential for government-to-government and private-to-private sector cooperation.

Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal stated that legal and structural reforms are being advanced to create an investment-friendly environment in Nepal. He clarified that the government is prepared to work closely with the private sector to accelerate economic growth through foreign investment and technology transfer.

He emphasized the strong potential for Qatari investment in Nepal in sectors such as energy, minerals, health, education, tourism, agro-processing, and information technology, among others.

Similarly, Foreign Minister Balanand Sharma noted that Nepal has prioritized policy reforms and diplomatic facilitation for foreign investors, highlighting ample investment opportunities for Qatari investors in energy, tourism, infrastructure, and information technology.

Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal, Misal bin Mohammed Ali Al-Ansari, stated that the Qatari private sector is interested in investing in Nepal, expressing confidence that stable policies, an efficient banking system, and investment security would further increase investment inflows.

FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal mentioned that the Federation has been playing an active role in promoting a private-sector-led development model in Nepal. He invited Qatari investors for long-term partnerships, noting significant joint investment potential in energy, tourism, hydropower, hotels, agro-processing, and infrastructure.

Board Member of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohd Ahmed M.A. Al-Obaidely, expressed a positive view of Nepal’s investment climate and conveyed interest in expanding direct cooperation and business exchanges between the private sectors of both countries.

The meeting is expected to help take Nepal–Qatar economic relations to a new level and lay the groundwork for concrete investment cooperation in the future. The delegation also met Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Paudel on the same day.

The Qatari delegation is visiting Nepal at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).
