Testing has begun today on the 132 kV double-circuit transmission line constructed by the Nepal Electricity Authority from Tamghas, the district headquarters of Gulmi, to Burtibang. Built under the Burtibang–Paudi Amarai–Tamghas–Sandhikharka–Gorusinge 132 kV transmission line project, the line has been extended through various local levels of Gulmi and Baglung districts.

According to the Authority, testing and power transmission of electricity with a capacity of 132,000 volts will be carried out on the transmission line running from the Tamghas Substation at Unaichaur in Ward No. 7 of Resunga Municipality, Gulmi, to the Burtibang Substation at Khaltubot in Ward No. 2 of Dhorpatan Municipality, Baglung.

Project Chief Manoj Chaudhary of the Electricity Authority informed that preparations have been made to bring the transmission line into regular operation only after conducting tests for two days starting today. He stated that the line has been extended through Resunga Municipality Wards 3, 4, and 5; Isma Rural Municipality Ward 2; and Musikot Municipality Wards 1, 2, and 3 in Gulmi, and through Badigad Rural Municipality Wards 2, 5, 6, and 7 and up to Burtibang in Dhorpatan Municipality Ward 2 of Baglung.

Taking into account the potential risks associated with high voltage, the Authority has urged the general public not to climb transmission line towers, not to touch the wires or structures, not to go near the towers, and not to leave domestic animals unattended outside. People have been requested to stay away from structures marked with danger signs and to make children aware of the risks. The Authority has also requested that if sparks are seen during testing or if any other danger is felt, the matter should be reported to the nearest police post or the Authority’s office.

According to the Authority, Project Chief Chaudhary stated that the construction of this project has been completed at a cost of more than NPR 4.5 billion. He expressed hope that once the project comes into operation, electricity supply in Gulmi and Baglung districts will become more reliable and stronger.

Project Chief Chaudhary stated that arrangements have been made for electricity to flow from the Motipur Substation in Kapilvastu, through Arghakhanchi, passing via Unaichaur in Gulmi and Paudi Amarai in Musikot, to Burtibang. Previously, when electricity was supplied from the substation in Butwal over long distances, service disruptions occurred repeatedly. With the operation of the new transmission line and substation, these problems are expected to be resolved, ensuring smooth and long-term electricity service in the district.
