Under the expansion of electricity infrastructure in the district, the process of acquiring additional land required for the under-construction 132 kV substation project has been moved forward. The District Administration Office, Jumla, has informed that the process to reclaim previously missed land parcels has been initiated.

The substation in Jumla is being built under the Dailekh–Kalikot–Jumla 132 kV transmission line project operated by the Nepal Electricity Authority. According to a public notice issued by the administration, concerned landowners or stakeholders must submit their claims within 35 days. During this period, they can seek compensation for houses, huts, trees, or other structures on the land.

The land acquisition will include plots belonging to various individuals in Ward No. 9 of Chandannath Municipality (formerly the Taliyam area). The administration has stated, “If claims are not submitted within the specified time, the process will proceed in accordance with prevailing laws, and no complaints will be entertained thereafter.”

The construction of the 132 kV substation is considered crucial for ensuring stable and reliable electricity supply in Jumla and nearby districts. At present, electricity supply in Jumla remains unstable, with frequent power cuts, especially in smaller villages. After the substation is completed, it is expected to improve load balancing in both urban and rural areas, increase capacity, and reduce disruptions.

Once the project is completed, the expansion of electricity access in Jumla, Mugu, Kalikot, and other remote areas is expected to have a positive impact on economic activities and production.
