Mohan Kumar Dangi, the newly elected President of the Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN), has assumed office.

Outgoing IPPAN President Ganesh Karki welcomed newly appointed President Dangi at the office and formally handed over the responsibilities.

Speaking briefly with journalists after assuming office, President Dangi said that although colleagues were divided into different camps during the convention, the energy sector has now moved forward in unity after the general assembly unanimously elected the leadership.

“What happened during the election is over. Now we will work in unity. Being together is both an opportunity and a challenge. We will assign full responsibilities to all members of the executive committee and work through proper division of tasks,” Dangi said.

Dangi, who has already served in three previous executive committees, is now serving as president in his fourth term.

Outgoing President Ganesh Karki said that anyone involved in IPPAN, regardless of position, must always be careful while speaking.

“When a member of the executive committee speaks, the president also has to take responsibility. Therefore, one should speak outside only after consultation. If there is no full information about a matter, it is better to say we will discuss it later,” Karki said. “If caution is not exercised in speech, the entire sector—worth 1.5 trillion rupees in investment—may have to pay the price.”

He also said it was a major achievement that most of the issues raised by his previous committee were included in the election manifestos of political parties, and added that the new committee must continue to push for their implementation.

Newly elected Senior Vice President Uttam Bhlon said that although seating positions may have changed, they will remain united on energy sector issues.

“The outgoing president has his own legacy. There is concern that this committee may not be able to fully carry forward that legacy. Therefore, even though seats have changed, we will always remain together for the broader interest of the energy sector,” Bhlon said.

The new leadership of IPPAN, which represents 700 energy-producing companies, was elected on June 12, 2026. The new committee took the oath of office on June 15, 2026, and assumed office on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
