Nepal’s electric vehicle (EV) market has entered a new phase with the launch of the Proton e.MAS 5, a compact electric SUV featuring a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) system-a first in its segment in Nepal.

Jagadamba Motors Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Proton vehicles in Nepal, officially unveiled the Proton e.MAS 5 during a special event on Monday, introducing a new-generation EV focused on advanced technology, performance, safety, and driving comfort.

According to the company, the Proton e.MAS 5 is Nepal’s first RWD compact electric SUV, designed to deliver a more balanced, stable, and engaging driving experience.

Proton believes the model will set a new benchmark in Nepal’s rapidly expanding EV market.

With the demand for electric vehicles growing significantly in Nepal in recent years, Proton has introduced the e.MAS 5 with a focus on modern technology, high performance, environmental sustainability, and everyday practicality.

The company said the SUV combines an enjoyable driving experience with essential safety, convenience, and comfort features for daily users.

Advanced Rear-Wheel Drive Technology

The biggest highlight of the Proton e.MAS 5 is its rear-wheel-drive architecture, which provides better weight distribution, improved handling, enhanced stability, and smoother control, according to Jagadamba Motors.

The company claims the vehicle is suitable for Nepal’s diverse road conditions, including busy city streets, highways, and challenging hilly routes, offering a safer and more comfortable driving experience.

Two Variants Available in Nepal

The Proton e.MAS 5 will be available in Nepal in two variants:

- e.MAS 5 Prime-Rs 2.999 million

- e.MAS 5 Premium-Rs 3.499 million

The SUV comes equipped with a CATL LFP battery, offering a claimed driving range of up to 395 kilometers on a single full charge.

The Proton e.MAS 5 features a rear-wheel-drive system, 11-in-1 integrated motor, fast charging capability, and a 14.6-inch Full HD touchscreen infotainment system.

The vehicle includes several smart connectivity and convenience features such as:

- 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity

- Online navigation
