Gorkha has made significant progress in road infrastructure development over the past Fiscal Year 2025/26. The Infrastructure Development Office, Gorkha, made remarkable progress by completing the construction of six motorable bridges at various locations in the district last year.

The office had completed only three motorable bridges in the previous fiscal year 2024/25. Chief of the Office Santosh Aryal said the development had helped expand the road network and directly benefited residents in various areas who previously faced difficulties crossing streams and rivers during the monsoon.

According to Mohan Shrestha, an engineer at the Office, four of the bridges completed last year cost more than Rs. 50 million each, while the remaining two cost less than Rs. 50 million.

The completed bridges are the Daraundi River bridge at Naya Saghu, Ludi Khola Bridge connecting Gorkha Municipality and Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Chukti Khola Bridge connecting Lower Sera and Upper Sera in Palungtar Municipality-9, and Nauli Khola Motorable Bridge in Dharche Rural Municipality-7.

Similarly, the Silikhola Bridge connecting Salangiri in Gorkha Municipality-14 and Ratmate in Palungtar Municipality-8, and the Tadikhola Bridge connecting Katjale and Nayagaun, were completed with budgets of less than Rs. 50 million each, according to the Office.

The bridges are expected to play an important role in keeping rural roads operational throughout the year, facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce to markets and making daily travel easier for local residents.

Meanwhile, the Office achieved an overall financial progress of 83.2 per cent in the last fiscal year. Of the Rs. 1.65 billion budget it received, Rs. 1.37 billion was spent, according to the office.

Of the Rs. 1.630 billion allocated for capital expenditure, Rs. 1.364 billion, or 83.69 per cent, was spent. The Office's records show that Rs. 11.18 million was spent under the recurrent expenditure heading.
