The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has restored electricity supply to various parts of Nuwakot.

through alternative transmission arrangements after floods in the Bhotekoshi River disrupted power services.

The NEA said electricity had been restored to flood-affected areas, including Kharanitar, Samundratar, Chaugada, Likhu, Panchakanya and Bidur through an alternative line from Sindhupalchok.

According to NEA spokesperson Rajan Dhakal, work is underway to charge the Chapali-Devighat 66 kV line from Chapali Substation to 11 kV and to charge the Balaju-Trishuli 66 kV line to 11 kV.

Preparations are underway to bring these lines into operation soon after completing the necessary technical work, and efforts are being made to resume electricity service by the evening.

In some parts of the Trishuli area, an alternative arrangement has also been made to supply electricity through the Salyantar Substation in Dhading.

The NEA said it was making efforts to restore power in areas where electricity supply through the regular system has been hampered by infrastructure damaged by the floods by using alternative sources.

To restore electricity services as soon as possible, the NEA has mobilised teams of skilled technical personnel from Kathmandu and surrounding areas to Nuwakot, along with the necessary equipment and resources.

The teams have been prioritising the inspection and repair of damaged power infrastructure and the management of alternative power supplies.

Earlier, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha had directed the authorities to expedite all necessary measures to restore electricity services while rescuing employees who had been stranded or remained out of contact in the flood-affected areas.

Following the minister's directive, a high-level team led by NEA acting managing director Dighayu Kumar Shrestha has been deployed to the affected areas.

The NEA said it has accorded priority to continuously assessing the condition of power infrastructure damaged by the floods, restoring supply through alternative systems wherever feasible, and repairing damaged structures to resume regular electricity services.
