The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week decreased 61.41points (2.35 percent) after the stocks prices of hydropower and insurance companies witnessed landslides fall after the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli flood inflicted heavy losses in hydropower projects along with the individual lives and property.

The secondary market opened for trading at 2,618.72 points and closed at 2,557.31 points. During the period, the market rose as high as 2,620.13 points and fell as low as 2,517.79 points, marking the volatility of 102.34 points.

In all four-day trading, with the ?government declaring a public holiday to mark Janai Purnima and Rakshabandhan on Friday, the market index went down throughout the trading days. The largest fall of 35.92 points (1.38 percent) was observed on Wednesday.

Sector-wise, only the manufacturing and processing group had its index incline by 57.45 points (0.55 percent). Of the 12 losers, non-life insurance plunged 685.36 points (6.58 percent), the largest of all.

Among the individual companies, share price of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company lost the highest of 24.47 percent. Sarvottam Paints Industries Limited with a jump of 74.87 percent stood as the topmost gainer.

The average daily turnover decreased to Rs 3.977 billion Rs 4.493 billion, marking a decline of 11.48 percent. Market capitalization declined to Rs 4.398 trillion from Rs 4.504 trillion, causing the investors to lose Rs 105.60 billion in their book value. In the previous week, the investors had lost Rs 43.2 billion.
