Further progress has been made in the search and rescue operation for people trapped inside the underground structures of the Upper Trishuli-3 ‘A’ Hydropower Project. A team of the Nepali Army and Armed Police Force deployed for the rescue operation has advanced approximately 10 meters into the upper section of the tunnel.

Providing an update on the situation at the site, Shriram Neupane said the rescue team that entered the tunnel is clearing rocks and other obstacles that were blasted and removed with the help of an excavator as they move forward.

According to him, the rescue team is now close to reaching the floor level of the tunnel.

Following the floods and landslides, a large amount of soil, mud, rocks and other debris accumulated inside the underground structures of Upper Trishuli-3 ‘A’. The rescue team has been gradually clearing the obstacles from the tunnel entrance and advancing inward.

The latest progress indicates that the rescue team has managed to reach deeper into the tunnel. The main challenge at present is to safely remove the remaining rocks and obstacles and continue advancing further inside.

The Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and technical teams have been mobilized for the rescue operation. As excavators are being used to clear blasted rocks and other obstructions, the route toward the inner section of the tunnel is gradually opening.

The rescue team’s advance of 10 meters into the tunnel and its approach toward the floor level mark significant progress in the latest rescue effort. However, it is still too early to draw conclusions about the actual condition of the deeper sections of the tunnel or the condition of the people trapped there.
