The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week increased 16.72 points (0.66 percent) as investors restored their confidence towards the country’s secondary market to inject their money.

The secondary market opened for trading at 2,542.77 points and closed at 2,559.49 points. During the period, the market rose as high as 2,578.43 points and fell as low as 2,524.55 points, marking the volatility of 53.88 points.

In four-day trading, with the government declaring a public holiday on Tuesday to mark the first anniversary of the Gen Z movement, the market index escalated by 27.94 points and 18.07 points, on Monday and Friday, respectively. On the remaining two days, the market index slid 13.85 points and 15.43 points.

Sector-wise, out of the seven gainers, non-life insurance jumped the largest of 131.36 points (1.41 percent). Among the six losers, the development bank plunged 84.04 points, as finance declined 2.72 percent.

Among the individual companies, the share price of Liberty Energy Company gained 20.10 percent. Sindhu Bikas Bank lost the most by 32.71 percent.

The average daily turnover increased to Rs 4.098 billion from Rs 3.241 billion, marking a growth of 0.85 percent. Market capitalization inclined to Rs 4.402 trillion from Rs 4.373 trillion, causing the investors to gain Rs 29 billion in their book value. In the previous week, the investors had lost Rs 25 billion.
