Goods carrying containers from Korala border have got stuck on the way to Pokhara as road got obstructed due to landslides in different places.

Works related to customs clearance at the Mustang Customs Office in Nhechung, Lomanthang Rural Municipality-4, have come to a standstill due to disruption in communication and electricity and the damage of the Jomsom-Korala road during the four-day incessant rainfall on September 24-27.

As the communication and electricity services have been completely disrupted due to the landslides and flood, check pass, tax clearance and quarantine services have been affected.

Bidur Chudal, chief of the customs office, said that the disruption in check pass has directly affected the revenue collection.

"Due to lack of electricity and communication, work related to customs clearance of even those containers kept in the yard has also been halted. Work pressure is heavy as other border points with China have also been disrupted," said Chudal.

Korala border point is located at 4,650 meters above the sea level and the customs office is 14 kilometers down from the border. After taking tax clearance from customs, goods carrying containers travel a distance of 186 kilometers to reach Pokhara.
